#buildingPLR NOW HIRING, equipment + millwork
HIRING
Mel and Alben our managers started job posting and interviewing for these two positions:
BOH (Back of the House) Crew Member.
FOH (Front of the House) Crew Member.
The goal for our team is that everyone is cross-trained, and knows how to do each others’ jobs.
This way:
• Everybody can help out; and we remove the “it’s not my job” mindset;
• We are not at the mercy of one or two people; and
• We are more insulated from workers calling out sick or being tied up at a station.
BUT…there will be folks who will have more comfort and skill in certain areas i.e. delighting customers, assembly, organization, etc. - so we created two positions.
The goal is to have 25 folks on staff. Even though we don’t need that many employees to run a store (you’ll need 2 to open, 2-3 to close, and 4-6 people max during busy time):
• Not all staffers will show
• Not all staffers will stay
• Not all staffers will uphold brand standards, and be let go; and
• We want to staff the store for the sales we want to make - especially in the beginning for the grand opening and making a good first impression on customers.
So far, we’re getting a lot of interest, which is great - because our operation requires so little prep and employees - we can afford to pay our employees a little more than most, and give us a competitive edge.
EQUIPMENT
We decided to work with Action Sales, because:
• They are local;
• Johnson Yeh and Matthew Lee have been incredibly responsive;
• They went the extra mile to call all our needed equipment manufacturers and distributors that we have a tight deadline, and
They have delivered everything as promised. Love them.
MILLWORK
We chose Mike Lucke at MSW Store Rollout Services to help with wall graphics, millwork, chairs, tables, lighting, and our Ingram neon sign.
We had so little to worry about, since they’ve been a one-stop shop; and Mike has been responsive, understood the urgency of our requests, and delivered everything as promised, on-time, and in perfect condition.
SIGNAGE REMOVAL
Our landlord asked us to:
Remove the Roll Em Up store sign, to eliminate confusion. We hired a removal company, DF Signs & Graphics in Fullerton, to remove it. Great company, and will definitely use them again (and also get a bid for signage).
Add graphics to build excitement and awareness. Our store signage company, Indie Signs, got it done and installed.
Bam.
